Background:
Risk control is an important part of quality management. How can an organization truly manage and reduce risk? How can it truly prevent and effectively continue to improve risk?  Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) is a product reliability analysis method, as well as an engineering technique used to define, identify and eliminate known and potential failures, problems and errors from the system, design, process or service. It is a product quality assurance method, which uses a form to assist in analysing the causes and effects, conducts preventive control and management of critical processes and quality, and takes pre-emptive measures to reduce failure risk. The ISO/TS16949, BRC and SQP quality systems suggest that an organization should know and understand FMEA and use it effectively to improve its quality management and control capabilities. Risk intelligence is a special kind of intelligence for thinking about risk and uncertainty. This course explains the importance of “risk intelligence quotient” in manufacturing risk management.

Training Objective:
This training course introduces the systematic risk management thinking specified in ISO 14971:2007, and uses the FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) tool to explain how this technique assists in systems development, management and applications, helps participants implement product quality risk management for their companies from theory to practice, enhances their overall technical standards, enables them to quickly develop low-cost, highly reliable products, and really reduces their product and management risks.

Training Benefits:

  • Understand the nature of risk
  • Understand a systematic approach to risk management
  • Be able to perform risk analysis on a specific product and process
  • Be able to understand and apply the FMEA tool
  • Be able to perform risk analysis on the product design and manufacturing process
  • Identify measures to avoid and reduce these potential failures
  • Better prevent adverse events

Course Coverage:

Day 1: Theoretical knowledge of and systematic approaches to risk management

  • The basics of risk management
  • General requirements for risk management
  • Risk analysis
  • Risk evaluation
  • Risk control
  • Evaluation of overall residual risk acceptability
  • Risk management report
  • Production and post-production information
  • Case and summary

Day 2: Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)

  • Introduction
  • The basics of FMEA
  • General FMEA guidelines
  • DFMEA application and implementation in the product design process
  • PFMEA application and implementation
  • FMEA methods
  • Case study

Special Note:
This course provides customized service (corporate training) which covers the above content, and offers 1-day additional project practice opportunity (guide technicians to complete FMEA program design; guide technicians to select products/projects and complete the whole FMEA process) in light of each enterprise’s actual condition. For details, please call us.

Award and Qualification:
Upon successful completion of the training program, participants will be awarded an Intertek Training Certificate (related training record can be traced online by the certificate number).

Target Audience:
Management representatives, product development and technical managers, quality managers, project managers, design engineers, manufacturing engineers, process auditors, and other persons who are directly involved in new product or manufacturing process development, process standardization, and process improvement.
